A Walk Through History: Founder’s Granddaughter Visits EFP

EFP had the honor of welcoming Buffy Fonner, granddaughter of our founder, Dale Fonner. Dale established EFP back in the 1950s, and Buffy reached out with a heartfelt interest in seeing firsthand what EFP has grown into today.

Buffy brought with her a remarkable piece of our history: a small cannon that was gifted to Dale upon his retirement. This cannon represents one of the very first jobs EFP completed. This canon was molded in polystyrene right here in our facility and sent to Detroit to be cast in aluminum. Even more impressively, we still had one of the original cannon parts molded over 45 years ago, along with an Alka-Seltzer bottle featuring a foam plug created by Dale in his basement. That bottle marked the beginning of EFP and was our first manufactured product.

To commemorate the visit, we gifted Buffy a painting by Virginia Fonner, Dale’s wife, which had been hanging in our offices since the early 1970s. Joining Buffy was Marcia Cook, wife of the late Dick Cook, who served as our Shipping Manager for over 25 years. Their visit was filled with nostalgia, stories, and smiles.

It was a meaningful day for all of us at EFP, reminding us of our rich history and the legacy that continues to inspire our work.
