Life Cycle Assessment Services

EFP actively uses a program to analyze the life cycle of cold chain packaging and protective packaging solutions for the review of our product’s environmental impacts to assist our partners in making informed decisions when purchasing.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is performed by considering items used in a packaging solution and reviewing the following features:

• Raw materials that go into the packaging
• Manufacturing processes to create the packaging
• The fuel burned to transport the packaging
• The End of Life of the item

The assessment reviews various metrics to determine which green story best fits their organization such as Global Warming Potential (GWP) to review greenhouse gas emissions, human impact that reviews emissions directly harmful to humans, freshwater eutrophication that can cause algal blooms and harm marine life, and more.

Each analysis can provide a thorough review of a product and is able to compare two separate packaging solutions to review each metric more thoroughly. At the end of the assessment, the report is provided to the client to help with future decisions or reporting Scope 3 emissions data.
